Simplifying Soccer Drills

The coaching style adapted by a coach is largely depended on who (gender) and what age group he is coaching. He must have a vision of what he wants his team to be like and develop tactical and particular training and fitness drills to accomplish it.

Before all practice, coaches should be ready for the practice session with all the necessary cones, grids and pennies. The coach should be prepared mentally and psychologically because of the different personality of each of the players.

Stand in a position that is visible to all players. Be in a close enough proximity for them to hear you. Your objective of all drills should be specific and to the point. Before moving on make sure that all the players understand what you have explained.

After your explanation of the drills and a quick demonstration, stand outside of the drill area and observed the execution of the players. This will give you the opportunity to step in to correct any players that needs help with the drills.

Players that execute the drills correctly should be praise for their efforts. Those who are struggling should be encourage for their too. Don’t leave anyone out. All should be treated equally.

Remember in the end it should be the players who should be perspiration and wore out and not the coach. If you find this site helpful, please leave a donation for Darrell so you can enjoy the spirit of giving too.
